So, the beautiful and inspirational summer holidays are over. No more relaxing country living, it’s time to bring out the city girl again and start behaving like one. I’m such a Gemini, I’ll never figure out which of the two I am, country or city? Just have to have them both somehow and I’m happy to be able to do that.

I think I adore Cecil Beaton above all photographers of all time.

I started work on Tuesday and it kinda felt like my life was about to end there and then. (I’m very emotional and might have a bit of a tendency for a tad of drama and my job is quite a bore, you see, but I don’t want to get into that. My boyfriend says I’m like a character from a comic strip.) After a couple of days the worst shivers are gone and I’m back into the routine of things. And my work pals are great gals.

Tomorrow I shall get onto my to-do list, on top of which is taking photographs of some new jewellery. This time I’ll try to do it myself, as the previous pictures, although “styled” by me, are taken by my Pasi. I feel like a bit of a cheat, putting them on my Flickr. But he’s the one with Canon EOS!

Now I shall dream of world travel for a bit. I miss New York and Prague. I’ll leave you with a fab link to pictures of women with cameras.

It’s inspiring to me to pair up my jewellery creations with some lovely vintage images. Here’s what I found from my own small sheet music collection. This one is from 1922.

I really like the decadent red mixed with the pureness of white and green. In this bracelet and earrings I teamed chinese porcelain beads up with snow quartz and green glass beads.

Gosh, I’ve been away for a whole month! It feels difficult to return to blogging after such a long silence, even though I really want to! I’ve been reading through other people’s blogs for the past few days and it’s been very entertaining! It’s such a joy to see the wonderful things that people have created and the witty texts they’ve written. I’ve also made fantastic Flickr discoveries, including this heavenly stream of pictures just to make my day…

The reasons for my long break from the blog world are simple. The infuriating one is the computer trouble I’ve been having recently but the really nice reason is that we were up and away in Joensuu for the last two weeks chez my lovely parents, where I had no access to the internet whatsoever. There I concentrated on relaxing country living which included sauna, swimming, sleeping, jewellery making, picnic on an island at the lake, listening to the birch trees hovering in the wind, having breakfast on the veranda, admiring the swallows’ flying skills across the clear blue sky, beginning to create the interior to the little guest-house my dad just finished building,

eating berries from the bushes in our back garden at night, following with laughter the trials and tribulations of our poor dog who is a fierce hunter but who just couldn’t get his paws on the little, cute hedgehogs tip-toeing across the lawn…

Now I’m back in Helsinki, and back at work for a few days (eek!), but then my summer holiday continues for another two weeks and four days! Yeay!
